Alongside a home teaching practice for over 20 years. Local representative for London College of Music for Music Theatre Exams in Cirencester since exams began in  2006. 99% Distinction/merit and 100% pass rate with LCM. I teach what is necessary to bring out the best of each individuals skills rather then just any song – I build on strengths and developing new skills and self confidence.

VOICE:

ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall. I have been teaching form this syllabus for 20 years and not only know the music repertoire well  but have the resources and the understanding of what the examiner is looking for i have4 a huge resources bank to ensure each student has the right song for their voice and character. 98% Pass rate grade 1 to Diploma. I teach and prepare for examination with these boards in Singing. I can also prepare for Rock Pop exams and vocal train for modern singing using the vocal Estill Method  to ensure the correct technique is used for each style of singing.

PIANO:

I have mainly used ABSRM and occasionally Trinity exam board for beginner keyboard  I teach basic chords, accompanying, fun playing and also preparation towards the exam route if requested. I currently have students preparing for grade 1- grade 7 in the next exam period.

THEORY:

Can be fun and does not need to be the hard part of music. The basics are taught alongside the practical and each student will have a theory book to encourage the writing and learning of the fundamental basics of the written music.. For those students wishing to progress through the practical exam route it is important to work through the levels.

ABRSM board require a grade 5 level theory exam in order to progress to Grade 6 practical exam.

Theory enables an understanding of the music to be performed and helps with the technical requirement also. It is of great advantage for those taking GCSE Music and certainly a huge help if taking higher level in any of the music disciplines. It is often a pre-requisite for A level and University/ Music colleges.

I teach all levels and do small group sessions and individual sessions for the grade 6 +.

I often do intensive day and weekend courses to bulk learn the basics. Ask for info if this is needed. I can create sessions on demand in the school breaks.

CURRENTLY:

Teaching at local schools. I also teach in a relaxed environment from my home studio in Cirencester. Lessons are usually arranged as a weekly or fortnightly commitment but I can also arrange a few ad hoc sessions for performance in concerts and shows, audition or exam preparation. I can plan to suit individual needs.
